The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Felix Onigbinde, a photojournalist with the Nigerian Tribune newspaper.

Onigbinde, an award-winning journalist, reportedly fell into a coma last week and was admitted to Garki General Hospital, Abuja, where he later died.

In a condolence statement issued on Saturday by its Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the Council described his death as a painful loss to the journalism profession, noting that his demise had created a significant void among colleagues, friends and the wider media community.

The Council described the late Onigbinde as a dedicated professional whose career reflected his commitment to gathering and disseminating information in the service of society.

He began his journalism career with Daily Trust newspaper before joining the Nigerian Tribune, where he continued his professional work until his death.

As a photojournalist, Onigbinde contributed to documenting events and telling compelling stories through images, helping to inform the public and advance the work of the media.

The NUJ FCT Council extended its heartfelt condolences to the management and staff of the Nigerian Tribune, the Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN), his colleagues, friends and professional associates, praying that God would grant them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.

The Council also commiserated with his immediate family, particularly his wife and two children, who have been left to cope with the loss of their husband and father.

Onigbinde, who hailed from Ife Modakeke in Ife East Local Government Area of Osun State, will be remembered for his contributions to journalism and his service to society through his profession.

The Council prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and asked God to comfort his wife, children, extended family, colleagues and all those mourning his passing.
